Hin Keng Station, MTR Shatin to Central LinkShatin, Hong Kong
The Shatin to Central link (SCL) is a 17km long railway line that will serve as a key link to enhance the connectivity of the existing Hong Kong railway network. It is comprised of two sections, namely Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section and Hung Hom to Admiralty Section. The SCL will knit the network into two strategic corridors. The East-West Corridor will link the existing Ma On Shan Line with the West Rail Line and the North-South Corridor will extend the East Rail Line to Hong Kong Island.
The SCL will connect Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, providing passengers with a fast, reliable and convenient rail service. The new rail link will also provide an alternative route that will relieve congestion on the East Rail Line, Kwun Tong Line and Tsuen Wan Line; as well as road traffic surrounding the Cross Harbour Tunnel in Hung Hom.
The design of the Hin Keng Station sets a new standard for an open and elevated station that embraces natural lighting and ventilation as well as rooftop greening.
