Celebrating 150 Years of Excellence at Leigh & Orange
We are thrilled to mark a significant milestone in our history as we celebrate Leigh & Orange’s 150th anniversary! Founded in Hong Kong in 1874, L&O has transformed from a modest practice into an internationally acclaimed firm, recognised for our innovative contributions to architecture.
To commemorate this special occasion, we proudly launched our anniversary book, “Building Cadences: Leigh & Orange – Architects since 1874,” on September 27, 2024, at our head office. The event featured a thought-provoking roundtable discussion with distinguished guest speakers, including: Prof. Nelson Chen (former Director of the School of Architecture and current University Council Member at CUHK), Prof. Wong Kam-sing, GBS, JP (Former Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR Government and Distinguished Fellow at HKU), Mr. James Robinson (Former Executive Director for Projects, Hongkong Land), Former L&O partners Ms. Lucy Tsui and Mr. David Stanford, the book’s author.
Adding to the vibrancy of the event, over 70 university students and professors from Architecture, Sustainable Environmental Design, and Interior Design programs participated in the stimulating dialogues. This engagement exemplifies the collaboration between academia and industry, reflecting L&O’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative and sustainability-minded professionals.
The accompanying exhibition served as a heartfelt tribute to our 150-year journey, showcasing moments that capture our legacy—from early hand drawings and physical models to project photos. Each piece reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and the evolution we have undergone over the years.
We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this celebration a resounding success! Here is to many more years of innovation and collaboration!
