New World Development has officially unveiled its flagship K11 project, K11 ELYSEA, at a naming ceremony.

Located in the heart of Shanghai’s iconic Huaihai Middle Road commercial district, K11 ELYSEA spans approximately 17,170 sqm, with a gross floor area exceeding 130,000 sqm. The development brings together a vibrant mix of retail, office, and cultural spaces across both above-ground and underground levels.

Huaihai Road, often called “Shanghai’s most beautiful street,” dates back to the 1930s and is known for its cosmopolitan charm and romantic appeal, making it the perfect setting for this visionary project.

Leigh & Orange serves as the Project Architect, leading both the masterplanning and architectural design of the office tower and retail podium. The design draws inspiration from the site’s rich cultural heritage while embracing K11’s unique cultural-retail philosophy.

The masterplan is shaped by three thematic axes: Art, Humanity, and Nature. Art connects the historic elegance of Huaihai Road with modern retail through curated museum spaces and artisan boutiques. Humanity focuses on restoring heritage architecture to foster a culturally resonant environment. Nature introduces sunken plazas, vertical greenery, and rooftop gardens, creating a lush urban oasis alongside Huaihai Park.

Standing at 120-metre, the office tower is inspired by Art Deco Nouveau style. With materials like red brick, antique bronze, rose gold metal, and lush greenery, the design reimagines old Shanghai’s French architectural influences through a contemporary lens, blending timeless elegance with modern luxury.
