L&O Receives Two Prestigious Awards at the Green Building Award 2023

We are delighted to share some excellent news. We have received two prestigious awards at the highly esteemed Green Building Award 2023 (GBA 2023)!

The first award we have received is the “𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝” in the Green Building Leadership (Consultant) category. This is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and wellbeing.

Jury’s Citation: “The Jury Panel deeply values the illustrious legacy and proven prowess of the company’s green practices, which have set it apart as an industry leader across various building typologies, encompassing new buildings, master planning, and retrofit projects. The panel marvelled at the entrant’s visionary perspective, transcending the realm of architecture to embrace a profound commitment to a greener future. Its unwavering dedication to driving the industry forward through innovative building materials and construction technologies, resulting in remarkable sustainable achievements across time and scale, was recognised and lauded by the Jury Panel.”

The second award we have received is the “𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝” for the 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐢 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 in the New Buildings category (Completed Projects – Institutional). The design philosophy for the complex was centred on seamlessly integrating it into the existing Chung Chi Campus. Our primary objective was to maximise the use of natural resources such as wind, light, and greenery through passive sustainable design. We also placed great emphasis on preserving the unique value of the campus by incorporating local materials into the project. We strived to enhance campus walkability, creating spaces to inspire and empower the CUHK community to embrace a green lifestyle and serve as a sustainability prototype for future projects.

Jury’s Citation: “The Chung Chi Student Development Complex has dramatically enhanced the CUHK campus’s connectivity by providing a walkable campus life in the university. The project also creates a diversity of communal spaces inside the building to encourage social and cultural interaction. It utilises a variety of green architecture, including the extensive use of passive design to allow natural light and ventilation penetrations, enabling students to experience a sustainable lifestyle. The carefully
planned waste management and pollution control measures during construction effectively reduced the volume of waste requiring disposal and abated environmental nuisance. The project is an excellent showcase of biophilia and wellbeing campus development.”

The GBA 2023, themed “Embracing Wellbeing ‧ Excellence in Sustainable Built Environment”, is co-organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC).
