Plaque Presentation by the CIC marking InnoCell as Hong Kong’s First High-rise Building Completed Using Innovative MiC Technology

Officiating guests have unveiled a commemorative plaque at InnoCell to mark the completion of Hong Kong’s first high-rise building built with innovative Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) technology. InnoCell, providing diversified smart living and co-creation space for local and overseas talents at Hong Kong Science Park, was completed in October 2020 and set for operation in the first quarter of 2021.

Ir LAM Sai-hung, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr. CHAN Ka-kui, Chairman of the Construction Industry Council (CIC), Mr. Simon WONG, Chief Project Development Officer of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP), and Ir Kenneth MO, Chairperson of Joint Working Group on MiC of the CIC, together officiated the plaque unveiling ceremony which highlights a key milestone for Hong Kong’s construction industry.

The CIC has also specially presented plaques to HKSTP, Leigh and Orange as the Lead Consultant, Hip Hing as Main Contractor and Guangdong CIMC as MiC specialist at the ceremony to celebrate reaching this significant milestone.

The 17-storey building is assembled by 418 modules which provided 4 types of room – The Solo, The Twin, The Powerhub and The Suite. InnoCell – the award-winning project had achieved BEAM Plus-NB [v1.2] Provisional Platinum, the highest rating in the BEAM Plus rating system.
