Revisiting the Sha Tau Kok Public Housing: Designing for Community and Placemaking
Share
L&O colleagues visited the 6-storey Sha Tau Kok Public Rental Housing which was completed in 2017. The project is aspired by the multi-dimensions of “place” incorporating features like a podium for play, lounge area, roof garden, and open corridors etc. to encourage natural ventilation as well as a true sense of community. This holistic approach is particularly important given the aging demographic in the local area, providing spaces for seniors to come together and engage. By focusing on the multi-dimensional needs of the community, the project goes beyond just functional housing units. It creates an engaging living environment that caters to the diverse requirements of the residents, from young families to elderly citizens.
