Boulevard Square

Putrajaya, Malaysia

Along with the nearby Boulevard Plaza, this is one of the first speculative office blocks erected in Putrajaya – the administrative capital of Malaysia. The 25,000sqm of lettable space is contained in two blocks that address Persiaran Perdana – the main boulevard bisecting Putrajaya. A free-standing glazed oval café creates a dynamic focus for the intimate landscaped plaza between the two blocks. The two-level lobby – enhanced by a skylight – provides a natural extension to the plaza whilst accommodating the fall in the ground to the rear of the site where the porte-cochere and entry to the basement car park are located.

Fretted screens with Islamic-inspired patterns cover the curtain wall of the offices to create a memorable and culturally sensitive image for the building whilst reducing heat gain and glare for users within the building. The fretted screen motif then reappears playfully in the 5m highlight columns that mark the boundary between the plaza and the sidewalk of Persiaran Perdana.
