Hangzhou Wangjiang New Town Project
Hangzhou, ChinaLocated in the prime location of Shangcheng district, Hangzhou Wangjiang New Town Project comprises of residential, commercial and cultural facilities, covers an area of 93,000 sqm, with a total construction area of 740,000 sqm. The project sits adjacent to the Hangzhou high-speed railway station, Wujiang Lu Station of Metro Line 1 and Chengzhan Station of Line 7.
L&O as the project architect is responsible for masterplanning and architectural design of this project. Inspired by three essential elements: Art-People-Nature in creation of local art culture and way of life to the community, L&O upholds the smart-living philosophy by boosting urban vitality, creating vibrant community through Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), and integrating three-dimensional greening and the Sponge City concept into the design. This project strives to bring modern urban design into harmony with a historic district to build a lively urban core of Hangzhou Wangjiang New Town.
The Hangzhou City Station, Waterfront Park, Sunken Plaza, Community Auditorium, Urban Forest Piazza, Canal Street Market and Arts Exhibition Hall form various functional zones alongside the central green avenue as the main urban living room. It is this very central green avenue diverts people from the ground floor to different levels, and to drive pedestrian flow to activate the basement retail space. In addition, the underground spaces is intended to open to the public 24-hour with a pedestrian corridor connecting the Wujiang Lu Station of Metro Line 1 and the Chengzhan Station of Line 7, and it seamlessly integrates all plots to the railway transportation, forming a holistic TOD district.
