HKJC Conghua Racecourse Phase 2 – Stables & Support Facilities

Guangzhou, China

Originally designed and built as the equestrian venue for Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games, Conghua Racecourse is now a world-class stabling and training centre for Hong Kong’s thoroughbred racehorses. Phase 2 of the stables development consists of three double-storey stables providing 408 stalls, a newly designed equine pool, two state-of-the-art aqua walkers, and spa machines housed in dedicated support buildings. Additional horse walkers are located in the new stables’ courtyards, as well as a landscaped field allowing the horses to trot freely.

In the existing stables precinct, a third aqua walker, an additional weigh scales and another spa building are placed next to the existing pool, and the built double-storey stable has been refurbished to increase bedding storage and provide shelter to its existing wash bays.

Sustainable design features include roof-top photovoltaic panels, dedicated sewage treatment system and environmental monitoring sensors. Biosecurity fencing for the development was modified to ensure compliance with international standards.
