IT Operations Building
Hong Kong, ChinaThe IT Operations Building (ITOB) represents a significant milestone in supporting the continual growth of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s (HKJC) business.
Adhering to the principle of “Form follows Function”, the ITOB creates an environment that is instructive for the operation teams while maintaining visual comfort controlled with diffused lighting. The building also features two prominent vertical green walls that are strategically positioned on the western and north-western façades. This vegetated façade design helps to articulate the massing and adds a biophilic element to the overall composition, providing visual interest from the highway. The horizontal architectural fins and aluminium modular cladding panels also add to the dynamic and layered effect.
To ensure a harmonious integration with the surrounding environment, the building height takes reference from the adjacent buildings. The horizontal architectural fins minimise solar heat gain through a careful selection of materials. Furthermore, the vertical green walls enliven the surroundings and serve as a thermal buffer for the building envelope, reducing the thermal load of the air conditioning system.
