Ocean Park Summit Redevelopment

Aberdeen, Hong Kong

Ocean Park, situated on the southern side of Hong Kong Island, is Hong Kong’s premier educational theme park. The park covers more than 870,000sqm of land and features a diverse selection of world-class marine attractions, thrill rides and shows. Under the new Master Redevelopment Plan for Ocean Park, L&O developed three new attractions: Rainforest, Thrill Mountain and Polar Adventure.

Rainforest
Rainforest blends an Amazonian backdrop with a range of buildings using a primitive form of traditional tropical rainforest vernacular architecture, such as the ‘stilt village’. Using a sustainable approach as it is heavily composed of live tropical plantings, naturally cross-ventilated, and recycles a large volume of water with a life-support-system to ensure the healthy livelihood of all flora and fauna.

Thrill Mountain
Thrill Mountain offers guests a high-energy experience. It is designed as a contemporary boardwalk – borrowing the eclectic mix of unique food and variety of ride experiences once found in nostalgic seaside resorts, updated and re-imagined by adding a layer of popular youth culture. The Hair Raiser is the definite Thrill Mountain experience – delivering high-intensity thrill and dynamic motion.

Polar Adventure
Polar Adventure features North Pole Encounter, South Pole Spectacular and Arctic Fox Den, as well as a gift shop and the brand new Arctic Blast roller coaster. The world’s first-ever ventilation system is used to conserve energy by recycling residual cool air to help cool the Life Supporting System and plant room area. Polar Adventure conveys conservation messages about the plight of polar wildlife living under the threat of global warming.
