Sichuan Normal University Station TOD Project (North Residential)

Chengdu, China

The project is situated in Jinjiang District, Chengdu, within the Second Ring Road and adjacent to the city centre. It forms part of the Sichuan Normal University Station TOD development along Metro Line 7. The site is located 500 metres from the transit station and is connected via a subterranean pedestrian link, facilitating convenient access for residents. The western boundary of the site adjoins the Shahe Green Corridor, while the eastern edge backs onto a densely vegetated hillside, making it a rare residential plot with rich natural landscape resources within Chengdu’s central urban area.

The site features a natural elevation change of over 12 metres. The masterplan strategically capitalises on this distinctive topography, arranging 13 residential towers in a terraced configuration. This layout generates two generously scaled landscaped atria. Each tower is oriented in response to the terrain and the alignment of the Shahe River, ensuring balanced panoramic views for every dwelling.

The façade design draws inspiration from the Shahe landscape corridor, employing a fully curvilinear architectural language integrated with glazed curtain walls. This approach contrasts with the conventional residential typologies in the vicinity, establishing a distinctly contemporary urban identity. The full-height glazing further provides residents unobstructed views of the surrounding natural scenery.
