Sichuan Normal University Station TOD Project

Chengdu, China

The Sichuan Normal University TOD project is located in Jinjiang District, Chengdu City. It is an integrated development project with a rail transfer station. This comprises a site area of 37,472 sqm with a total construction area of 202,510 sqm. The project consists of a 130-metre high office tower and an 80,000 sqm shopping mall. By means of the comprehensive development and utilisation of land, the design significantly improves land use efficiency. It also provides a vertical three-dimensional development, including the spaces at ground level and below ground.

The project inherits the profound cultural heritage of the Lion Rock area where it is located, with the design concept of creating the city’s first ‘intellectual aesthetic’ space. Within efficient and ample circulation, the design makes full use of vertical spaces and introduces multiple areas with art, educational and other features to provide a museum-style shopping mall. The facade is inspired by bookshelves, echoing the concept of “intellectual aesthetics”. The underground shopping street is directly connected to the subway and adjacent residential plots, creating a convenient and vibrant “go home route”.
